I was born and raised in Southwest Virginia and attended Longwood University in Central Virginia, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education). During my freshman year of college, I became involved with Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship and over my four years, God really used this group to grow me in my relationship with Him and bring me closer to a community of other Christians. During my senior year, I felt God calling me away from teaching and into missions. My campus pastor at Longwood asked me if I would like to spend a year working with Chi Alpha to see what missions was like and "get my feet wet." I decided to give a year back to a group that gave so much to me during my years at Longwood, and spent a living a few blocks away from campus and helping with Chi Alpha. While on the fall retreat, I felt God telling me Chi Alpha was where he wanted me. The next step was for me to complete a year-long internship; out of the 18 intern programs, I chose three- at Florida State University, University of Virginia, and in the DC area. I was accepted to the program at Florida State and in August 2010, I moved to Tallahassee. I spent the next year learning more of the ins and outs of campus ministry at a college that was very different than where I went to college. The experience was great, and I decided to stay in Tallahassee for a second year.
I am currently in my third year at Florida State and loving every minute of it! I get to meet with students one-on-one and hear how God is moving in their lives, challenging them, growing them, and molding them. I also am in charge of our small group Bible studies; I help coordinate and train our student leaders to lead healthy and effective groups.
